Pawtuxet Village Farmer’s Market – June 4th

June 2, 2016 By Kim

Come and visit us Saturday:

Pawtuxet Village Farmers’ Market
Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, 60 Rhodes Place, Cranston
Saturday, 9am–noon

Here’s what we’ll have for you this week:

Sugar Snap Peas
Radishes
Carrots
Lettuce Mix
Skyphos Head Lettuce
Baby Kale
Bright Lights Swiss Chard
Dandelion Greens (cultivated, not wild)
Lemon Balm & Lemon Verbena Herbal Tea
Potted Herbs and Potted Tomatoes

We have a limited amount of flowers this week, Peonies and Gypsophilia, so our Flower CSA Customers will have first priority.

Swiss Chard!

We will have some beautiful Bright Lights Swiss Chard for you this week.  This years’ crop is looking amazing and we couldn’t be more pleased.  They must like their new home, the small field behind the two hoop houses.

Not sure of what to do with Swiss Chard?   Although I am not a big Martha Stewart fan, I must admit (reluctantly) that her website had the best variety of Swiss Chard recipes.

Farm News!

It has been a week of putting in the plants we want….and removing the plants that we do not (weeds).  The warmer weather combined with the rain on Monday led to a boom in plant growth.  The potato crop (all 250 pounds of it) is now in the ground and doing quite well.  As for flowers, the first of the sunflowers are also growing by leaps and bounds.

It was definitely a team effort to weed all of the rows of various onion and shallot varieties.
