I’m so excited!

January 18, 2013 By Blue Skys Farm

Today I cooked a meal with ALL locally grown products! I know this might sound strange coming from a Rhode Island farmer, but in summertime it’s so hard to shop at other vendors stalls because there is too much work to do.  The markets are a bit slower in the winter, so I can actually take the time to shop and support another vendor.  And, I actually have the time to cook in the winter.

I have made a concerted effort to buy one item from a vendor each week. This makes me happy!

Tonight I cooked an omelet with sausage and spinach.

The eggs came from Pak Express; the chicken sausage from PV Farm Stand and the spinach came from Blue Skys Farm.  Other items I have purchased this year:  ground coffee from Presto Strange O and the Coffee Guy, delicious herbed bread from Long Entry Farm; smoked blue fish from the Local Catch; honey from Bernie’s Bees; fermented mustard from Rachel Bakes; maple syrup from Apponagansett Farm; milk from Rhody Fresh; Sliders from the Rocket Fine Street Food; and cookies from Merry Cookies.  YUMMY and LOCAL. What’s better than that?  Here’s to eating local.
