What a beautiful summer day! Harvesting is so much more enjoyable when it is not so hot out.
Tomorrow we will be bringing the first of the long stemmed Lisianthis. They are a beautiful, albeit high-maintenance, flower that is similar in shape to a rose. This flower is very delicate and requires a spot in the hoop house for growing as rain and wind will destroy it. They also require netting to support their stems throughout their growth. All of this special treatment is worth the effort when you see the results though. They are stunning.
As for produce, we have a few new items that we will be bringing to market this week. One of these items is baby French Breakfast Radishes. They are as beautiful as they are tasty. Did you know that you can eat the tops as well? One of my favorite food websites, theKitchn, has an article regarding the use of Radish Tops in recipes such as Radish Top Pesto and Rustic Radish Soup. Please click here for more information.
