Farmer’s Market – July 26th

July 25, 2014 By Blue Skys Farm

This week we are very happy to announce that we will be bringing the beautiful flower, Lisianthus, to the market.  This flower is a slow grower that needs lots of TLC but it is all worth it when these beauties finally bloom!  Here are some photos from the hoop house this afternoon.

In addition to the Lisianthus, we will be bringing Status, Coneflower (sans pedals), Scabiosa and Globe Thistle, Globe Amaranth and of course….SUNFLOWERS!

As for edibles, we will be bringing a new item to the market, Caraflex cabbage.  Also known as a “conehead” or “arrowhead” cabbage, it is small, dense cabbage with a pointed end.  It’s flavor is mild and can be used both raw and cooked.   *Be sure to click on the links for recipe ideas.

We will also be bringing the following items to market:

Purple Kohlrabi
Christina’s Salad Mix
Tuscano Kale
Rainbow Lacinato Kale
White Russian Kale
Birhgt Ligths Swiss Chard
Golden Beets
Red Beets
Purple Scallions
Summer Onions
Gold of Bacau Pole Beans
Sun Gold Tomatoes
Suyu Cucumbers
Pickling Cucumbers
Marketmore Cucumbers
Lemon Cucumbers
Garlic
Culinary Herbs
Herbal Teas
Hope to see you at the market!
