Farmer’s Market – August 16th

August 15, 2014 By Blue Skys Farm

Don’t these flowers just make you smile?

These beauties are called Gomphrena and are also known as Globe Amaranth.

New this week, Fortex Pole Beans.  Johnny’s Select Seeds describes these beans as firm-textured pods that are completely string-less and delicious at all lengths.

Pink Oyster Mushrooms!

Have you ever heard of such a thing?

Farmer Tom says that the pink variety is meatier in both taste and texture.  Beautiful and tasty, how can you beat that?

Don’t miss out.  Be sure to come to the market early to get some for yourself.

Did you think I would just mention ‘blue potatoes’ without saying a little bit about them?  Of course not!  In addition to being very unique, blue potatoes, contain a substance called anthocyanins.  Anthocyanins are powerful antioxidants that help to decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke and cancer.  Pretty cool, eh?

Hope to see you at the market.
