This week at the farm:

The harvesting of lavender continues.  Once again we will be bringing fresh-cut lavender to market.  It will be the last time this year, so be sure to get to the market early to be sure that we do not sell out.  The ‘bonus’ of fresh-cut lavender is that once the blossoms start to wilt, you can just hang them upside down and dry them.

The key to harvesting lavender is to wait until the blossoms just start to open.  How do you know that when the blossoms are opening?  Look for bees.  If there are bees flying about, the blossoms have opened.  Luckily the bees are happy to share access to these beautiful flowers.

We have some crops that will be ready in a few weeks or so (Mother Nature dependent of course!).  Here are just a few:

Summer Squash
Carrots
Golden Beets

—————————————

Wondering what you can do with collards?  Here are a few ideas:

Braised Greens & Cannellini Bean Panini
Pasta with Collard Greens and Onions
Southern-Style Collard Greens

—————————————-

See you at the market!
