Pawtuxet Village Farmer’s Market – September 26th

September 24, 2015 By Blue Skys Farm

Where we’ll be:

Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market
Rhodes on the Pawtuxet
60 Rhodes Pl, Cranston
Saturday, 9am–12pm

Thundermist West Warwick Farmers Market
186 Providence St, W. Warwick
Thursday, 3–6pm

What a beautiful day at the farm. The cooler weather has made the kale plants perk up so we will be bringing plenty of it to the market. The plants are now over three feet tall and their leaves are quite large. We planted both White Russian and Lacinato (aka Black Kale) varieties this year and they both look wonderful. Be sure to pick up a bunch (or two) at the market. Stuck in a rut with kale? Here are some interesting recipes you may want to try:

Kale and Walnut Pesto
Kale Salad with Root Vegetables and Apple
Spicy Kale and Corn Stuffed Chicken Breast

In addition, we will be bringing the following items to market:

Daikon Radish
Tomatoes
Rainbow Carrots (see photo below)
Chioggia Beets (with tops)
Golden Beets (with tops)
Skyphos Butterhead Lettuce
Swiss Chard
Asian Eggplant
Purple Potatoes
White Potatoes
Tomatillos
Garlic

Flower share bouquets all ready to go to their customers at Big Train Farm’s CSA.

Bouquets for the Wednesday evening pickup of the Blue Skys Farm CSA.  Can’t get enough of those amazing Dahlias!

Speaking of bouquets, due to popular demand, we will be bringing our $5 mini bouquets this week.  Last week Christina had a brilliant idea…why not use all of those water bottles, that we see all the time at the farm, and utilize them as “vase” for a small bouquet. It was an immediate hit and we quickly sold out. The bonus of using the water bottles, besides being able to reuse them, is that they fit nicely in the cup holder of your car.

Anyone out there know any rain dances? If so, please start dancing! Thank you.  πŸ™‚

See you at the market!
