Pawtuxet Village Farmer’s Market – October 10th

October 8, 2015 By Blue Skys Farm

Where we’ll be:

Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market
Rhodes on the Pawtuxet
60 Rhodes Pl, Cranston
Saturday, 9am–12pm
(through October 31)

Thundermist West Warwick Farmers Market
186 Providence St, W. Warwick
Thursday, 3–6pm
(through October 29)

What a difference a week makes! The end of last week was wet and cold (not fun) but this week has been sunny and warmer (yes!).  Although the seasons are changing, there are still some great produce to harvest. Some of what we harvest goes right to market, while others, like Lemon Verbena, will first be dried and sold over the winter as tea. Here is a photo of what this herb looks like in the field.

According to the website NatureHacks, Lemon Verbena contains an essential oil that has anti-spasmodic, de-stressing and expectorant properties. It is often used to strengthen the nervous system, aid in digestive disorders, minimizes fevers and eases colon spasms.

This week we will be bringing the following items to market:

Lettuce Mix
Bright Lights Swiss Chard
Lacinato Kale
Green Bell Peppers
Diakon Radish
Red Ace Beets
Purple Potatoes
Irish Cobbler Potatoes
Onions
Tomatillos

Scratch Farm produce includes:

Garlic
Spinach
Leeks
Sweet Peppers
Carrots
Eggplant

We will also be bringing a wide variety of culinary herbs and teas as well as Blue Skys’ beautiful flowers.
