Where we’ll be:
Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market Thundermist West Warwick Farmers Market |
What a Wednesday it was! Almost 2 inches of rain and lots of wind. Could be an interesting couple of days coming up as well if Hurricane Joaquin touches down in the North East. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this storm heads out to sea.
A beautiful sunset at the farm on Wednesday evening.
Rain or shine we will be harvesting items for the market. This week we have the return of the SALAD MIX!!!
Lettuce Mix in the fields. Ready to be picked, washed and bagged for market. Talk about fresh, our Lettuce Mix is picked less than 24 hours prior to being sold.

Skyphos Butterhead Lettuce
Green Star Head Lettuce
Chioggia Beets (with tops)
Swiss Chard
Daikon Radish

Baby Pumpkins
In addition, Scratch Farm is supplying us with:

Photos from the farm:
Sunflowers in the fields, just about to open.
Lisianthus is still doing well in the hoop house. We will be offering these beauties in pre-made bouquets as well as loose for a make-your-own option.
Dahlias in the hoop house.
One of the first of the winter crops, arugula is coming up nicely in the newest of our two hoop houses. I know there are a lot of you out there looking forward to this crop!
Look what I found today while harvesting Chioggia Beets. Rather than the striping solely on the inside of the beet, this one also has it on the outside. I have never seen the red and white striping on the stem as defined as this one. It could be a vegetable in a Dr. Suess book.
A view of the herbs and flowers drying in our new Drying Room. I really love going in that room. It smells and looks amazing.
Pumpkin on a Stick in the Drying Room. This plant is also known as Ornamental Eggplant, as it is actually an eggplant, not a variety of pumpkin.

Hope to see you all at the market.
