Farm News!
A rainy day is especially welcomed this very dry summer. Although we do have irrigation, Mother Nature is the best waterer out there! If it were a harvesting day, we would have been donning our rain gear and working outside. Lucky for us, we harvest for market on Friday, so we were able to find plenty of tasks under cover to keep us busy. The photo below is of our freshly weeded hoop house.
This cockscomb celosia plant is a “volunteer” from a crop we had in this hoop house last year. By volunteer, I mean that it self seeded from last year’s crop and we just had to let it be.
These lisianthus plants are also under the cover of the hoop house.
Bees LOVE borage flowers!
A beautiful gladiola!
It is time to start transitioning the precious real estate of the hoop houses from summer to fall crops. Here is a row that recently contained Gold of Bacau pole beans that has been replaced by a crop of beets.
By the way, be sure to wish Christina a Happy Birthday on Saturday!
See you at the market!
